NDTMethods

Visual Testing

Visual Testing is the most fundamental type of NDT examination. It involves inspecting welds or components using measurement tools to identify visible defects and compare them against relevant acceptance criteria.

Ultrasonic Testing

Ultrasonic Testing uses high-frequency sound waves to detect internal flaws and measure wall thickness, revealing discontinuities well below the surface without disturbing the component.

Magnetic Testing

Magnetic Testing is used to identify surface and near-surface discontinuities in ferromagnetic materials. A magnetic field is applied, and iron oxide particles are used to detect flux leakage at the site of a defect. The resulting indications are evaluated for compliance with applicable standards.

Penetrant Testing

Penetrant Testing is used to detect surface-breaking defects. A liquid penetrant is applied to the test surface and drawn into flaws by capillary action. The process can be conducted in visible light using red dye or under ultraviolet light using fluorescent dye for enhanced sensitivity.

Hardness Testing

Hardness Testing evaluates a material's resistance to indentation or deformation. It provides valuable insights into the material's strength, wear resistance, and overall durability, supporting quality control and material selection processes.
